Best prices in the area. Always, always busy. No stupid discount cards to get the best price. No self checkout lanes, just real people, most of whom are friendly. I love that there are people who have been working there for 15 or 20 years, it's a sign of them treating their employees better than the average store. I'm sure they're not perfect, but they have a lot of good things going for them.
Rich choice of food. Since the turn over rate is high. The food are very fresh here. Price is also noticably lower than other supermarkets.
Market basket always has the best prices compared to other stores. The only issues I have are how many people are all in the store at once and the workers putting out merchandise during store hours. You'd think a store that has such high volume, would create an overnight shift to restock and out out merchandise.
My choice grocery store in the east Cambridge Union square area. Prices are the cheapest and produce and meat is always fresh due to the turnover. Also offers a more varied selection of non-american foods due to the diverse customer demographic. It's a madhouse if you go during the day on weekends so weekday or very early weekend shopping is recommended to minimize stress.
Used to live near this MB and complain that it was always too crowded. But we knew it was special and still prefer to do all of our shopping there. It's an experience. Plus it's so much less expensive than everywhere else, and it's easy to find everything, unlike most supermarkets. They also treat their employees well, it seems. This is an important place!
