He knows how to fix bikes and is reasonably priced, but he is very unprofessional. The last time he worked on my bike he was drinking mid day and was drunk enough that he was struggling on fixing my bike. I ended up fixing a mistake at home because he just couldn't deal with it in his current state. He also said my bike wasn't worth working on but did so anyways.
The price was great, well within what I was expecting and after talking to others he is on the cheaper side (one of my coworkers is going to use him next time he needs repairs). He has a stash of old parts and found a lightly used wheel for me, saving half the cost and more importantly it didn't need to be ordered so saved a couple days waiting over the weekend. I'm not really cost-conscious for this kind of thing but for someone who is might appreciate cheaper used parts.
In and out quick, nice guy, seemed like bikes were a real passion for him. Would recommend to anyone looking for a knowledgeable and hands-on bike mechanic.
Owner was not very helpful or willing to work with me.
I ride my bike everyday and everything ran noticeably smoother after he worked on it. After 3 months is still running great.
I really like this place. Tyler is very friendly and did an excellent job repairing and tuning my bike.
I'm a long-term client of Paramount Bicycle Repair. Tyler Oulton, the sole proprietor, is a deeply knowledgeable, highly-skilled bicycle mechanic who is also a raconteur of Boston bicycle cultural and historical lore. Tyler has built up five bicycles for me over the years, with another project underway, in addition to raising several well-loved old bikes from the dead. His extensive knowledge is backed by a really interesting inventory of great old components. Repair and reconditioning is at the center of his business: he can do the right thing by your weird old bike, including telling you when it's time to let it go. He's a first-rate wheel builder, and a great partner in a new bike build. He's also a long-time Surly bikes dealer, a good source for that new CC or LHT you've been thinking about. Note: Tyler is a real guy, not some bland corporate human resource unit. If you go--and you should--expect human interaction.
